Getting
a new bike is like getting measured and fitted for a suit
or a dress. You can always buy something off the rack and
it may look good enough but getting fitted will make it
look even better. The same thing holds true for a bike.
Once you are properly fitted to a bike, you'll feel more
comfortable and be more efficient while riding.
At the Bikeway Source, we use a blend of old school and new
technologies to find the right bike and right fit for you. The very first thing
we do is talk to you to find out your riding style and preference is. Then based
on your height, inseam and torso length we can then find the right bike for you.
All of this is from many years of tried and true practices as well as personal
experience.
But sometimes you want something a little bit more custom.
Short of having a custom built bike on site, we use Bike
Fit Kit's custom Fitting System to find or build the
perfect bike for you. This system uses over 10 different
measurements and criteria used to calculate your frame size.
Finding
the right bike is only the first part of the equation, there is still a few more
things that need to get done. After we get you fitted with clipless pedals and
cycling shoes, we'll set your cleat position on your shoes to the correct location.
You can't just screw the cleats into the shoes, if you are off by just a fraction
of an centimeter this can potentially cause serious problems to your ankles, knees,
hips and/or back. Once we get your cleats dialed in we user laser levels to aid
us in getting your bike just right; crank length, seat height, seat setback handlebar
width and stem length are all checked and double checked during this process. For
