A few things before I leave.....
Jen and I went to the same highschool and our birthdays are 6 months apart to the day. Hers is October 11 and mine is April 11, hence the blog title "the 411" being my birthday and also meaning the info, or scoop. And I just realized this blog program is called "movable type 4.11". Need more numbers? I am flying out of Boston for this bike tour on July 11 which is exactly halfway between our birthdays.
Of course we needed tourblog names. My nickname "2WD" came from Greg Fedderson refering to the fact that my tractor is two wheel drive. Noah Elbers started calling Jen "Oracle Jen" this winter because she was responsible for most of the planning logistics and liked the name.
Our ride starts in the town of Nordkapp Norway which is at the top of the country, 71 degrees latitude. We will have 90 days to reach Madrid Spain via a very indirect route of 8000k. We will be self supported carrying our tents, sleeping bags, food, stove, etc and plan to camp most of the way.
Updates could be infrequent at the beginning of the ride because we won't be carrying a computer and its kinda rural above the Arctic circle. As we journey south the updates should increase.
