2WD spent twelve years racing bikes before he realized he should go
touring. Problem was he had spent all his money on racing and worked a
lot. It had been a vicious cycle of race every weekend during the
spring and summer, work two jobs in the fall, then get back in shape
during the cold new England winters. This went on for a while until he
noticed that its more fun to look at stuff while riding than try to
keep up with professional athletes. He then moved from his hometown to
work at a bakery called Orchard Hill Breadworks that, according to our
hero Greg LeMond, "makes the best bread in the world".
After a couple years at the bakery 2WD had a discussion with longtime friend Oracle Jen about going in search of adventure. The decision was made to pedal bicycles across Europe, North to South, so he proceeded to buy the nicest touring bike and camping gear he could find. And again he had spent all of his money. No problem this time because his good friend Bicyclefatso liquidated his no longer needed racing equipment on ebay. And then with just enough dough he was off to become the adventure seeking free spirit he always wanted to be.
