gear review: Sella Italia turbo super
I've ridden turbo saddles for 17 years. Almost exclusively for 14. Every now and then I'd try another saddle (rolls, flite, regal, sella-anitomica, others) but it wouldn't stay on the bike for long. Someone at Sella Italia had a cerebrial malfunction and discontinued production of the turbo in 1997. What a dumbass. Right now I have eight turbos in my invintory.
The turbo that I took to Europe was a 1986 super. Its the widest turbo that I know of at 150mm (turbos are usually 135-145mm) providing that little bit more surface for touring comfort. Steel rails are good cause they won't bend as easy when leaning a loaded bike against something. Or when someone picks up your loaded rig by the saddle like on a ferry in Norway.
I felt comfortable every day of the bike tour sitting on this seat. It's better than a couch.
